What are your new ideas for Redbubble?

Could you consider postcards with poetry or writing on the back?

Hi
I've been a Red Bubble artist for a few years. I always buy my cards on here, and today I had an idea and wanted to share it with you. There are a lot of writers on Red Bubble, I'm one of them and I would love to be able to purchase postcards with my poems printed on the back, like so many writing organizations do, for handing out.
I'm also a photographer, so I have images, which would make this process simple, other than the design software...and it would enable me to purchase my own printing through this site as well...
There are often collaborations on Red Bubble, where someone will write a piece to accompany anothers image and this would be perfect as postcards, or cards, however I realize with 2 artists involved the split is more complex.
As I said it is a standard practice for writers to hand out their writing on postcards with a visual accompaniment, if you could accommodate this as a choice on the postcards I'm sure you would see a substantial increase in sales.
thanks
Sharon

I was about to vote for this as I strongly agree .....however it appears that I have used up all my votes....not sure how, or how you can gain some more voting points.... Brilliant idea If I've not already posted before... Wigs

Great idea. I have heard another site gives the option for the writing to be taken off so the buyer will have the option to keep the writing or to have the card without the words but can still buy the product.
So there is a win win either way. The artist still gets a sale and so does RB

Actually ... the picture side is the back, the address side is the front. Better to call the sides address and picture rather than front and back. Less confusing.

You have my vote. I'm experimenting with combining poetry and design, which often works well with posters, but not so well in smaller sizes. So, in my Zazzle Gift-Shop I've been issuing a special set of Collector's Edition postcards, with the design on one side and the words on the other. I recently joined Red Bubble, and have been delighted with many of the features here, in particular, how easy it is for customers to make choices, compared with Zazzle. I'd like to direct them to a single Red Bubble shop, instead of two. But because double-sided postcards are not available here, I'll have to keep the Zazzle store open.

yes, Please. I always thought it was a given. So, I was rather suprised when it was not that way.

    thank you

I would also really like to be able to put text on the flip side of cards. This could be useful for promoting exhibitions and websites. If RedBubble just made it possible to place text and format it, that could meet both the needs of poets and photographers.

In fact if it was just possible to do double-sided printing - we could make an image of the formatted text and upload that for the reverse side. That way RB would not have to provide any new technology for text formatting ... just make the double-sided printing possible.

I'd love to see this too, but my need for this is to be able to have the title along with a short description of or some words about my artwork on the back. Some of my art is lost without it. For instance, one of my paintings has a bit of flash fiction that goes with it that the image actually is meant to illustrate. The way things are, it's meaningless without it! Please do this... the votes are mounting up. Let's get more for this, can we, people?

Good call Sharon, it would be sweet to see RB let the Writers have a shot to sell our Art in these parts too.

This is a fabulous idea. What a special gift this would make. I wonder if all it would need is some RB template tweaking to bring about. Could perhaps also be something for Tees as well me thinks. My vote is definitely on this winner idea.

Very great idea. What makes a beautiful post card is the inspiring words that is left in it. Writers in here contribute a lot in RB and this would be a great opportunity to have our words in the cards. Good for you. My vote is in.

poetry is vital we need to have the affirmation of our work by enabling people to purchgase it as a gift in some form personalized poetry booklets might be an option where the customer can pick 5 or ten poems for a set price to be printed with various headings this is a special gift for you beacuse... etc. or as individual post cards.

I recall in the very early days of RB the suggestion of a box of postcards with a collaboration between artist and writer was being seriously considered, in fact there was some promo examples...but it never took off and it would seem the writers do not add $$ value to RB. I wish writers did have a way of selling their work... good on you Sharon..
