I'm keen to have the photographic prints come with a small 10-20mm border
Pinning them to the wall without the border means the image itself will be damaged, and I understand that when they're being framed it's much easier for the framer if there's a little bit extra to work with, also means the image won't be cropped by the mat board.

I disagree that Redbubble is staffed with reasonable people who welcome feedback and suggestions. Because if they were serious about supplying what their customers wanted, they would implement some of the suggestions - but as far as I can see they never have?

A solution is to add your own border using your image processing software. Happy to help, anytime.

Obviously Redbubble is staffed with reasonable people who welcome feedback and suggestions. I suppose that's why various staff have asked me for direct input regarding the site development over the last four years.

Obviously Redbubble thinks that prints without a border is the best way to go for their business model, otherwise they would have implemented something else. I think it's the perfect addition to the current product line-up for the majority of consumers. As I have said, there are options outside of Redbubble if you don't like the current product.

Great Idea Mel, if the real "professional" framers don't like a border they are so good that they can accurately trim them off in two seconds anyway... :)

I wish to add, that some people put their prints up on walls in galleries with pins, rather than go to the expense of framing or matting. Having a border allows the prints to be hung, therefore not damaging the image itself. People who buy the prints are then able to take them to the framers who can crop or not when matting and framing, but at least the image has no holes in them.

On a serious note, there are many people who mat their own images for competition etc, so having a border allows them a little necessary leeway.

I wish to add, that there are local stores who can do prints with borders. It's not really an issue that warrants changing the product because there are few people who hang quality photographic prints on walls with pins. It's good that RB has a variety of product options because it provides customers with quality options. And print product options are good. Prints with borders look quite tacky in my opinion ... especially when pinned on a wall.

Also, my local professional framer works with thousands of prints each month and most are without borders. I've seen him do it on many occasions with my own eyes. My local framer is quite able to handle the situation ... professionals know what they're doing.

I think the way RB has implemented photographic prints is spot on the way it is. I sell many loose prints, all without borders. It's what the customer prefers.

I was wondering how these prints could be used without a border and wouldn't have ordered any for that reason. Great suggestion!

I certainly agree with this.....a 5mm border would be ideal!

My framer would agree, need a small border, even if it's 3-5mm, it would certainly avoid the pitfall of the frame/mat obscuring part of the image or the tartists signature..
